Action Requested:                     

The Northfield City Council approves a Sunday liquor license for Loon Liquors LLC dba Loon Liquors at 1325 Armstrong Road, Suite 165, Northfield.

 

Summary Report:

Loon Liquors LLC has applied for a Sunday liquor license for 1325 Armstrong Road, Suite 165, Northfield.  Loon Liquors currently holds a Cocktail Room License (on and off sale) and a Small Microdistillery License with the State of Minnesota.  With the changes to City Code approved in Ordinance No. 992, Loon Liquors LLC meets the qualifications necessary for a Sunday liquor license. 

 

A microdistillery licensed under and subject to the requirements contained in Minn. Stat. § 340A.22, may be issued an on-sale liquor license for the "on sale" of distilled liquor produced by the distiller for consumption on the licensed premises of or adjacent to one distillery location owned by the distiller and an off sale liquor license for the off-sale of distilled sprites produced by the distiller at the licensed premises, subject to the requirements and rules contained in Minn. Stat. c. 340A and Minn. R. c. 7515 and the conditions list in City Code Section 6-57 (f) and (g).

Financial Impacts:                     

The City receives a $200 for a Sunday Liquor License.  This is a maximum fee set by the State for Sunday License fees.

 

Tentative Timelines:

If approved, certification will be sent to the Department of Public Safety Alcohol & Gambling Enforcement Division.  Sunday hours are anticipated to begin September 23, 2017.
