SUMMARY:
Quarterly report of CDBG activity and fund balance.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Northfield receives entitlement funds annually from Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) through the Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA). Funding for projects up to June 30, 2017 include, Down Payment Assistance, Home Matters Residential Rehab and Downtown Historic District Residential Rental Rehab.
During the 2nd quarter of 2017 there have been 2 down payment assistance awards of $15,000 each. Staff is currently working on an award of $10,000 for the residential rehab program. Staff is also working on a residential rental rehab award of $10,000.
Staff has received 4 applications for down payment assistance this year. However, two of the families applying were not able to complete the purchase process for various reasons.
Information regarding the down payment assistance program, residential rehab and residential rental rehab has been shared with realtors, Northfield News, the Link Newsletter, City Website, and Rice County.
