Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council is asked to consider approving the attached resolution receiving the amendment to Section 3.8, Subd. 2 proposed by the Charter Commission and calling for a public hearing.
Summary Report:
The Northfield Charter Commission adopted the attached proposed changes to Northfield Charter Section 3.8, Subd. 2 at their May 25, 2017 meeting. Charter Commission Vice Chair Lance Heisler submitted the attached amendment and request that the proposed amendment be placed for consideration on an upcoming City Council agenda. Staff prepared the proposed amendment in ordinance form. Mr. Heisler will be in attendance at the meeting to present the amendment to the City Council.
The attached 2011 memo from City Attorney Chris Hood details the procedure for the Charter Commission to Seek Amendments to the Northfield City Charter.
