Consider executing a grant amendment extending the 2011 Legacy Trail Grant completion date to June 30, 2018.

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council amends the 2011 Legacy Trail Grant extending its completion date to June 30, 2018 and authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the agreement.
Summary Report:
The City of Northfield received a 2011 Legacy Trail Grant of $274,500. The grant had a previously amended project completion deadline of June 30, 2017. Annually, the City is required to provide a grant status report to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MNDNR) in late winter/early spring to follow their grant reporting deadlines. With the submission of the status report staff requested an extension of the grant for one year.
The MNDNR has approved the request for the extension and the amendment is attached (Attachment 1). At the January 3, 2017 City Council meeting, the City extended the project completion date with the Contractor to October 27, 2017. At that time, staff knew the grant would need another extension amendment and requested to bring it forward in conjunction with the change order for the project. However, as indicated above, the MNDNR would not process the extension to the grant at that time but staff received confirmation that the grant would be extended another year due to 2016 flooding.
The contractor for the project is currently onsite working on the project. Staff is anticipating the project will be completed late summer.
Financial Impacts:
There are no financial impacts associated with this grant amendment. This amendment only extends the project completion date from June 30, 2017, to June 30, 2018.
Tentative Timelines:
Once executed, copies will be sent the MNDNR.
