Lashbrook Park Plaque

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield Park and Recreation Advisory Board receives information on a plaque to be installed at Lashbrook Park.

Summary Report:

The Friends of Lashbrook Park would like to donate bronze plaque to the City of Northfield.  The plaque will recognize those who made this Park possible and information on the Lashbrook family.   The plaque will be mounted on a stone at the entrance of the park.

Attached is the proposed plaque wording.  Staff suggests that the plaque should read ‘Park’ not Passive Park.  The park is identified as a Neighborhood park in the Comprehensive Plan and when the grant was received it was for a “Community Park”.

In December 2016, the Park and Recreation Advisory Board motion failed to recommend to City Council to consider re-classifing Lashbrook Park from a Neighborhood Park to Natural Open Space/Conservation Areas.

The Friends of Lashbrook Park received a $1000 donation from Wes Brown and a $1000 donation from Al Olson that will cover the cost of the bronze plaque that will be donated to the City.
