Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves of the provision of office space for the Northfield Rescue Squad Association and Northfield Fire Relief Association at the Northfield Fire Station.
Summary Report:
The Northfield Rescue Squad Association and Northfield Fire Relief Association have historically been provided office space at the Northfield Fire Station. Both of these organizations serve a valuable public purpose and directly support the mission of NAFRS. The NAFRS Board has sought a legal opinion regarding the provision of office space to these organizations. The opinion stated that the provision of office space to these organizations is legal.
The NAFRS Board approved the attached resolution related to this item. Per the Fire Station Lease Agreement and the Joint Powers Agreement, NAFRS is requesting the written consent of the City of Northfield approving the provision of office space for the Northfield Rescue Squad Association and Northfield Fire Relief Association. Staff recommends approval of this item.
