Consider Approval of DJJD North Babcock Park Lease Agreement

The Northfield City Council considers a motion to approve a Lease Agreement with Defeat of Jesse Days Committee, Inc. for North Babcock Park.
Summary Report:
In November of 2015, City Council passed Resolution 2015-116 approving the installation of new bleachers in North Babcock Park. When the resolution passed in 2015, staff indicated they were working through the 2003 lease agreement with DJJD.
The new lease agreement is similar to the existing agreement, which allows for storing DJJD property including an information booth, ticket booths, bleachers, and stage in North Babcock Park. DJJD is responsible for maintenance of their personal property within the park. This includes the new bleachers.
When the new bleachers were acquired by DJJD, it was discussed that the bleachers may be donated to the City, hence they would be City owned and maintained. However, at this time DJJD wants to keep them under their ownership.
The lease agreement term is three years with an automatic renewal for three additional years. The DJJD committee indicated the bleachers will be installed this summer for the 2017 Celebration.
