Summary Report:

Second through Fifth grade students were asked to design a poster with the theme: “Be the Solution to Stormwater Pollution.”  Through this exercise, these youth become aware of what stormwater is, where it goes, and how to prevent excess nutrients from entering into the Cannon River.  This year, 100 posters were submitted for the contest.

Culvers and Jesse James Lanes were generous in donating prizes for the top three posters from each grade.

These posters will be displayed in City Hall until the next poster contest in 2018.  Facilitating contests like this helps satisfy Minimal Control Measures (MCM) 1 & 2 (Public Outreach & Education) associated with our MS4 stormwater permit.

The Northfield City Council may wish to make comments commending the Second through Fifth grade students from Prairie Creek Community School, Greenvale Park Elementary School, Bridgewater Elementary School, and St. Dominic School for their involvement in the stormwater pollution prevention poster contest.

Cannon River Watershed Partnership has requested a photo opportunity for winning posters to be taken with the Mayor after the presentation.

Tentative Timelines:

The winning posters will be displayed in City Hall, and will remain there until June 2018.
