Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council will receive a presentation from Northfield Area Chamber of Commerce Director of Tourism Lisa Peterson and President Todd Bornhauser on National Travel and Tourism Week. The Council will be asked to consider a resolution proclaiming May 7 - 13, 2017 as National Travel and Tourism Week as part of the consent agenda.

Additionally, below is some additional information on a luncheon available to the general public as well as Chamber members.

2017 Hospitality General Membership Luncheon - sponsored by Wells Fargo
Also, the CVB is encouraging the public to come celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week with the Northfield Area Convention & Visitors Bureau on May 9 at the Northfield Golf Course from 11:30 am - 1 pm. Their guest speaker for the Hospitality General Membership Luncheon is Troy Parkinson, who will discuss the MN Film industry and the important role it plays in the Sate of Minnesota and the Northfield community. Learn what partnerships they bring to local communities throughout the state.

In addition, come celebrate with us on the presentation of the 2nd annual Northfield Excellence in Tourism award winners. They are excited to announce and recognize four individuals who have made a positive difference in hospitality in our community!
The following award recipients were selected because of their positive contributions to the area's tourism industry with Visit Northfield:
Restaurants: Erin Lemke, Fielder's Choice Tap & Table
Hotels: Arianna Eagar, Archer House River Inn & Suites
Retail: Katherine Howie, River Valley Vision Center, (Formerly of Northfield Yarn)
Attraction: Jean Callister-Benson, St. Olaf College Events
