Update on Hiawathaland Transit Activities and Depot/Transit Hub Site

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council receives information on recent activities of Hiawathaland Transit.
Summary Report:
Amy Repinski will be present to provide an updated report on transit activities in Northfield. In addition to the Hiawathaland Transit update, staff has been working on the Transit Hub site adjacent to the Depot.
The stakeholders (Hiawathaland Transit, Benjamin Bus, and Save the Depot Group) have been working with the City on the site development alternatives. The preferred alternative is attached for review. The City Consultant is preparing site development plans based on the preferred alternative along with estimating costs for the improvements. As the project moves forward, there will be a need for the following approvals:
1. Subdivision of the Land.
2. Variance through Zoning Board of Appeals for building setback/orientation, two story height, and possible windows. The variances most likely requested at this time will be the setback/orientation and two-story height.
As the plans are developed for the Transit Hub (excluding the building), updated costs will be provided to Council prior to moving forward with bidding the project.
