Summary Report:

Mayor Pownell has approved the attached Mayoral Proclamation Declaring April 22, 2017 as Earth Day in Northfield.

 

The City of Northfield’s Earth Day aims to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the Earth’s environment.  It is currently observed in more than 140 countries around the world.  Earth Day, founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson, was first organized in 1970 to promote ecology and respect for life on the planet as well as to encourage awareness of the growing problems of air, water and soil pollution.

 

Northfield will celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 22, 2017.  The Environmental Quality Commission will have a booth at the annual Northfield Earth Day Celebration being held at the Carleton Weitz Center for Creativity. The Environmental Quality Commission will be holding a tree giveaway raffle that is funded by Dick’s Sanitation. The EQC will also be promoting organic composting along with other earth-friendly tips.
