Title
Northfield Energy Working Group Update
Body
Action Requested:
The Northfield Environmental Quality Commission is asked to review updates from the Northfield Energy Working Group.
Summary Report:
The Northfield Energy Working Group has agreed to present information and updates.
Task #2 MN B3 Evaluation
The Northfield Energy Working Group has provided a comparison of the free MPCA B3 Energy program compared to an energy monitoring program from Lucid. The MPCA B3 Energy Program is in essence an energy monitoring and benchmarking program. It does lack the educational interface. In 2015, staff reviewed the costs of moving toward an the Lucid Building OS system, at that time there was an annual cost of $5,000 for the program not including any costs for metering equipment installation to bring it real time. However, staff does see the benefits of the interface that Lucid provides for public education. Staff is wondering if there are any charts/graphs that may be able to be integrated with the B3 program to improve this.
Task #3 Climate Action Plan Resolution
In staff’s review of the Climate Action Resolution, it is very unclear what the impacts to the City are, not only to the community but also to staff resources. This is a first draft resolution at moving toward a climate action plan, staff recommended that the Northfield Energy Working Group assist with further defining this before an action is recommended to be brought forward to City Council.
