Summary Report:
Please see attached informational Fact Sheet on the 2017 Local and Regional Government Alliance on Race & Equity Introductory Cohort. This is the second year of a partnership program between the League of Minnesota Cities and the Government Alliance on Race and Equity. Councilor Zweifel did have some involvement with the 2016 cohort and Councilor Pownell has been participating in discussions in this topic in her role as the current President of the League of Minnesota Cities.
Staff believes this would be a valuable program and would recommend at a minimum to have staff participation for continuing education. We will be continuing to try and gather more information on the program prior to the Council meeting but wanted the opportunity to have a preliminary discussion with the City Council related to participation and scope of involvement in 2017. Time is limited with the first sessions beginning at the end of January.
