Approve Tobacco License Renewals

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves tobacco licenses as shown on Attachment 1, subject to successful completion of all background checks and receipt of all documents.
Summary Report:
The City received 12 applications for tobacco license renewals as shown on the attached list. The Northfield Golf Club is not renewing their license. Licenses are valid until December 31 of the year of issue. The Police Department is conducting background checks and location reviews. Licenses will be issued upon successful completion of all checks and receipt of any outstanding documents. There were two new licenses approved in 2016 at existing locations as follows:
• Ziggy’s LLC at 109 Water Street North (formerly held by Amcon Inc. of MN)
• Northfield Inc. at 429 Division Street, Suite A (formerly held by H&S Inc. of Northfield)
Compliance checks were conducted in February and July 2016 and there were no violations during these checks.
Staff recommends approval of the licenses.

Financial Impacts:
The City of Northfield received $3,500 in license fees.
Tentative Timelines:
The licenses must be renewed and documents sent to the State prior to December 31, 2016.
