Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves a tobacco license for Northfield Inc. dba Downtown Tobacco at 429 Division Str. S., subject to the following conditions:
1. Police Department walk through prior to opening; and
2. Surrender of license issued to H&S Inc. of Northfield
Summary Report:
Ghaleb Awawda, Northfield, Inc., has applied for a tobacco license for 429 Division Str. S. H&S Inc. of Northfield, dba Downtown Tobacco currently holds a tobacco license at this location. Mr. Awawda is purchasing the business from Haider Alnomoni, owner of H&S Inc. of Northfield. Licenses are only valid on the premises for which the license is issued and only for the person to whom the license is issued. There are no license transfers allowed in City Code.
The Police Department completed the necessary background checks. The license approval is subject to the conditions noted above which includes a walk though and surrender of existing license at this location. A Police Department walk through/meeting is done with all new license applications for liquor and tobacco to view the premises and discuss applicable code enforcement items.
Alternative Options:
