Title
Continued discussion of the 2017 Budget Request by the Northfield Area Fire & Rescue Services (NAFRS).

Body
Action Requested:
Discuss the 2017 budget request from the Northfield Area Fire and Rescue Service (NAFRS).

Summary Report:
The City Council reviewed this budget request at the regular meeting of August 16. NAFRS Board VP and Finance Committee Member Scherer had presented.

The Joint Powers Agreement Fire Protection and Rescue Services requires board adoption of a budget by August 1. The NAFRS board met on Thursday, July 28 and unanimously recommended approval of their 2017 budget request. Staff is intending to bring this forward for action under the regular agenda of September 6. Any feedback or concerns following last meeting is very welcome in preparation of bringing this forward.

Alternative Options:
Discussion only.

Financial Impacts:
NAFRS is requesting approval of the proposed budget of $525,000, of which Northfield would pay $379,155. This is the same budget and contribution as 2016. The detailed financial impact is summarized in the budget documentation.

Tentative Timelines:
The Joint Powers Agreement requires that the City of Northfield, as a governing body of the agreement, shall act to approve or disapprove the NAFRS budget submitted on or before September 30.

Staff is currently planning to bring forward consideration of action of this item at the Council meeting on September 6. We have one budget work session scheduled on August 23 in which the Cit...
