Title
Consider Resolution Approving Plans and Specifications and Authorizing Advertisement for Bid for TH 3 Streetlight Replacement Project.

Body
Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council considers the attached Resolution approving plans and specifications and authorizing advertisement for bid for the TH 3 Streetlight Replacement Project STRT2025-A82.

Summary Report:
The City Council is being asked to approve the plans and specifications for the TH 3 Streetlight Replacement Project STRT2025-A82 and to Authorize Advertisement for Bid.

The streetlights along Trunk Highway 3, from Fremouw Avenue to 700 feet south of Greenvale Avenue West, will be replaced with new poles and luminaire fixtures. The existing steel poles, installed in 1998, have reached the end of their service life due to significant rusting at their bases, necessitating replacement.

The electrical lines will remain intact, and the service cabinet was recently replaced in 2024 following a motor vehicle accident. The current footings for the poles are in good condition and will remain, with only the anchor bolts being replaced as part of this project. The new light poles will be aluminum, painted black to closely resemble the appearance of the existing poles, ensuring consistency with the aesthetic of the area.

Plans and Specifications can be obtained at the City Hall Engineering Office if requested.

Alternative Options:
The City Council could choose to not accept the project which staff does not recommend due to the age and condition that warrants maintenance.

Financial Impacts:
The project is estimated to cost $250,000.

Tentative Timelines:
- Bids will be opened at 2:00 P.M on Thursday January 16, 2025.
- City Council will consider awarding the project on February 4, 2025.
