Action Requested:                     

The Northfield City Council considers a Motion approving the extension of and first amendment to PCS Site Agreement Dated September 15, 1999.

 

Summary Report:

The City Council is asked to approve a lease extension for the cell tower located at 10353 Hall Avenue on the water tower and future water treatment plant site. The lease extension will be through August 16, 2025 while staff negotiates an updated agreement with the Global Signal Acquisitions II LLC.

 

The term "Personal Communications Service," refers to a type of wireless communication technology that utilizes cell towers to transmit signals for mobile phones, essentially meaning it's another term for the cellular network used by your phone when connecting to a tower; most cell phone companies use PCS technology alongside standard cellular networks

 

Financial Impacts:                     

Current monthly rent City receives is $1,464.10. Staff is negotiating rental costs in the final lease agreement.

 

Tentative Timelines:                     

Staff will continue to negotiate the agreement with the intent of bringing back the final lease to the Council prior to August 16, 2025.
