Title
Consider Second Reading of Ordinance 1069 Vacating Drainage and Utility Easements within 1280 Bollenbacher Drive.
Body
Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves a motion to approve the second reading of Ordinance 1069 Vacating a Drainage and Utility Easement within 1280 Bollenbacher Drive.
Summary Report:
As part of the sale of the existing ice arena property, there is a utility easement that cuts across the southern portion of the property. This easement was previously needed when the City had a sanitary sewer lift station, however, that lift station was removed in 2010, and therefore the easement is no longer needed.
According to Northfield Municipal Code Section 15.6:
The council may by ordinance approved by at least five (5) members vacate any street, alley or other public grounds or part thereof within the city. Such vacation may be made only after published notice and an opportunity for affected property owners and public to be heard, and upon such further terms and by such procedures as the council by ordinance may prescribe. A notice of completion of such proceedings shall be filed with the proper county offices in accordance with law.
Staff recommends approval of the vacation.
