Riverfront Enhancement Action Plan - Riverside/Lions and Ames Park Master Planning

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield Park and Recreation Advisory Board discusses the Riverfront Enhancement Action Plan - Riverside/Lions and Ames Park Master Planning

Summary Report:

The City has hired B2 to help with master plan Riverside/Lions Park and Ames Park.  These parks are connected to the riverfront and the goal is to get a shared vision of the final master plan that can be utilized to develop the parks.

B2 will assist with the community/stakeholder engagement as the master plans for the parks are developed.  PRAB needs to think of how we create individual park master plans that align with the goals in the Riverfront Enhancement Action Plan.

The goal is to have the master plans adopted by Council at the end of 2023.

Alternative Options:

NA

Financial Impacts:

Staff has discussed with Council that a possible funding source for the development of the Riverfront Parks will come from a half-percent local option sales tax.  This has tentatively been discussed as a November 2024 ballot question.
