Summary Report:
Commissioner Anderson has submitted a proposal to engage the EQC in a discussion of potentially hosting a community event regarding the energy efficiency and renewable energy options for Xcel customers in Northfield in the context of the Inflation Reduction Act.
The general outlines of the proposal are as followed:
Responding to Climate Change: Personal and Local Options
What: Energy efficiency and renewable energy options for Xcel customers in Northfield in the context of the Inflation Reduction Act
When: The week of November 14th (evening meeting, perhaps 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday the 15th or Thursday the 17th?)
Where: The Weitz Center? Fifty North? City Hall? Other?
Who:
* Planning by EQC member(s), Risi, Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL) and Greater Northfield Sustainability Collaborative (GNSC)
* Targeted to Northfield Xcel customers (residential, business, and industrial)
* Presentations by:
o Welcome (Risi and/or EQC member) 5 minutes
o Xcel (Partners in Energy): 25 minutes regarding
* Xcel rebates
* Home Energy Squad
* Renewable options (Solar*Rewards, CSGs, Windsource, Renewable*Connect)
o Risi and/or EQC member: 25 minutes regarding Carbon Reduction Fund EE rebates
o EQC/CCL/GNSC: 25 minutes regarding Inflation Reduction Act incentives (tax credits for EE, RE, EVs)
o Novel Energy Solutions and/or Cooperative Energy Futures: 25 minutes regarding:
* CSG options (possibly including CSG in partnership with Northfield Public Schools, and/or local investment opportunities for Solar on Schools project
* Tables/discussion (35 minutes)
