Summary Report:
1. Thank you to the commission for supporting the dedication, welcoming guests and distributing surveys and buttons. The survey summary is attached for your information and the final report to SEMAC has been accepted.
2. Steve Maus (library) and have been working with the Chamber of Commerce to update the art kiosk map of downtown (by Family Fare) so that the Chamber can also use the map in the case by the liquor store at 5th and Water St.
3. Update on Friends of Downtown are pursuing a grant to continue Artists on Main Street next year. Will have more updates on that later this fall. It will be exciting to see that happen again and the PARC process for is always a fun experience.
4. Rocky Casillas has finished the mural for the children's department in the library which will adorn the end caps of the fiction shelving. The mural is in the style of a graphic novel, a joyful triptych depicting mythical and imaginary creatures engaging in community building activities. There are speech bubbles with English and Spanish phrases throughout. The Friends of the Library supported this commission.
5. Our online Artwork Archive is being filled in. All of the Library's collection that is on display has been added and it looks great. Steve Maus and Libby Barth at the Library were a huge help in taking photographs and entering data. Next we are working on getting all of the public pieces around town photographed and updated. Having a place to store records on the artwork, maintenance reminders, etc, is really helpful on the backend too.
6. The State of the Arts Committee met to discuss what the presentation should include and what the survey on public art should consist of. We have a rough draft of a survey that should ...
