Oath of Office Ceremony for Northfield Police Department Officer.

Action Requested:
City Clerk, Lynette Peterson, will administer the Oath of Office to Police Officer Jessica Bohlken.

Summary Report:
Officer Jessica Bohlken was hired in July to fill a vacancy for police officer. We will be ceremoniously administering the Oath of Office to her as she assumes her new role in the Police Department. This ceremony will be done in person in front of the City Council.

Police Chief Mark Elliott will introduce Officer Bohlken and City Clerk Lynette Peterson will administer the Oath of Office. Councilors are encourage to congratulate Officer Bohlken on her new role. Members of the police department and friends and family are expected to be in attendance and will leave the Council Chambers immediately following this agenda item.

Officer Jessica Bohlken has been with the Northfield Police Department since July 19, 2021. Jessica is a graduate of the U of M with a bachelor's degree in sports management, and worked in youth sports settings for several years. She then decided to become a police officer and completed the law enforcement certificate program and skills training. She has worked in sports management, and as a personal care attendant working with people with autism and other special needs. Most recently she worked as a part time park ranger for both Wright and Dakota counties and as a security guard for the University of St. Thomas.

Officer Bohlken is currently in the Field Training Program where she is assigned to a Field Training Officer (FTO). The FTO rides with the new officer on every shift and instructs them on learning their job as a police officer.
