City Council Meeting Date: June 15, 2021
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Ben Martig, City Administrator
Title
Consider Approval of City of Northfield Values Statement.
Body
Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council is asked to consider a motion to approve the City of Northfield Values Statement adopting [choose either “Option 1” or “Option 2”].
Summary Report:
As part of the strategic planning process, staff drafted value statements and presented to the City Council on April 20th for discussion. At the June 8th work session, a revised draft was presented to the City Council for discussion. Attachment 1 shows the final draft edits for consideration. Organizational values, and value statements reflect organizational beliefs and foundational principles. They orient the employees, elected officials, Board and Commissions, to the standards of service and conduct expected. They enable citizens and stakeholders to understand what to expect from the organization (City).
Final drafts including Option 1 (Attachment 2) and Option 2 (Attachment 3) are attached for discussion and approval.
The final chosen values statements will be incorporated into the final adopted strategic plan. The proposed strategic plan that will be coming supplemental will have the draft values until any final values are approved. If there aren’t new values approved we’d use the past values.
Alternative Options:
• The City Council could offer a new amendment to the values.
