Consideration of Call for Public Hearing for Ordinance Implementing Franchise Fees.

Action Requested:                     

Staff recommends a motion to approve one the following:

 

Council considers a motion to approve calling for a public hearing on November 10, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. to consider proposed ordinance for gas and electric franchise fee with the following two ordinance option combinations (pick one option):

 

Option A:

•                     Gas Franchise Fee 5.0% streets & trails; and

•                     Electric Franchise Fee 3.5% streets & trails.

 

Option B:

•                     Gas Franchise Fee 5.0% streets & trails; and

•                     Electric Franchise Fee 4.0% streets & trails.

 

Option C:

•                     Gas Franchise Fee 5.0% streets & trails and Climate; and

•                     Electric Franchise Fees 4.0% streets and trails and Climate

 

Summary Report:

The City Council has been exploring the possibility of implementation of franchise fees for gas and electric for some time.  Please see attached presentation from the October 13th City Council worksession.

 

An updated report is being prepared for additional background information.

 

Alternative Options:

Council could choose not to implement any of the options.
