The Northfield City Council is asked to consider approving the attached Resolution Authorizing Budget Amendment for Additional Legal Services.

Summary Report:
Consideration of Budget Amendment for Additional Legal Services was on the August 4, 2020 City Council Meeting Agenda under the consent agent. Councilor DeLong requested this item to be removed from consent and added to the regular agenda on August 4, 2020 but due to time, the item was not presented.
Staff is recommending the need for additional legal service and related professional service fees related to the Bridgewater Incorporation Petition.
The City Council had previously approved Resolution 2019-083 authorizing a budget transfer and additional legal fees in 2019. The additional legal fees were not used in 2019. The funds were not budgeted in 2020 so this resolution would be required even though there are funds available in the general fund reserves.

Not recommended.
Financial Impacts:
This authorizes use of existing reserves available and currently dedicated for this purpose in the General Fund in the amount of $100,000.
