Title

Consideration of Motion for Amendment #1 to MnDOT Local Bridge Replacement Program (LBRP) Grant Agreement No. 1032891 for Spring Creek Bridge Replacement Project -  2018STRT-A39.

Body

Action Requested:

The City Council considers approving the Motion approving Amendment #1 to MnDOT Local Bridge Replacement Program Grant Agreement No. 1032891 for Spring Creek Bridge Replacement Project - 2018STRT-A39.

Summary Report:

The Northfield City Council approved Resolution 2019-084 (Attachment 2) at its August 20, 2019 City Council meeting, entering into MnDOT Contract No. 1032891 in the amount of $265,349.50 for LBRP funds for the replacement of Bridge No. 66J81 located over Spring Creek on Spring Creek Road.  The original grant agreement had an expiration date of September 15, 2020 requiring all obligations of the project to be satisfactorily fulfilled.  Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, fabrication and installation of the Ornamental Metal Railing has yet to be completed.  Staff has requested this amendment from MnDOT to ensure the funding for the project will still be available when all of the work is completed.  Staff anticipates the completion of the ornamental railings by fall of 2020.

Alternative Options:

City Council could decide not to approve the Amendment; however, other means of funding would need to be explored.

Financial Impacts:

There are no financial obligations for the approval of Amendment #1.

Tentative Timelines:

Staff will submit the Amendment to MnDOT upon approval.
