Title
Location of a Park for the KaBOOM Playground Grant

Body
Action Requested:
The Northfield Park and Recreation Advisory Board discusses the three possible locations under consideration.

Summary Report:
Northfield Promise was one of three selected nationwide to receive this grant. The grant is for a playground to be built in the northern portion of Northfield near underserved residents that do not have a playground near them. Northfield Promise conducted a survey with the residents near the potential sites. The results of the survey are attached.

The City is looking at three potential sites along the Hwy 3 corridor north of Greenvale Avenue to purchase for park property. See attached maps for site locations. The size of the playground can be from 3,500 to 7,500 sq. ft. with a dollar value of $300,000. City staff and Council met January 7 and February 11 in a closed session for guidance on the next step in determining a site. Council directed staff to keep pursuing the three locations.

The School District has shown interest in this if the City is unable to find a location. The School District would use the grant money to build the playground at Greenvale Elementary.

Note that the data dashboard is 3 pages (you may toggle between them on the top left of the page). The first is the map of options, the second are the responses (sorted by the neighborhood the respondent lives in), an...
