Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves summary publication of Ordinance No. 1010 Amending Northfield City Code, Chapter 86 - Vegetation, Article I - Noxious Weeds.
Summary Report:
The Northfield City Council has completed the first and second readings of Ordinance No. 1010 amending the Noxious Weeds. City Charter Section 4.10 permits summary publication of ordinances.
Alternative Options:
The City Council could direct staff to publish the entire ordinance. However, it would be very costly due to the number of pages that would need to be published.
Financial Impacts:
The cost to publish the entire ordinance is estimated to be approximately 10-15 times more than the cost to publish the summary.
Tentative Timelines:
• First reading of ordinance February 4, 2020.
• Second reading of ordinance February 18, 2020 and approve summary publication.
• Summary publication February 26, 2020.
• Ordinance effective 30 days after publication.
