Consider Approval of Warranty Deeds and Temporary Construction Easement for TH 246 and Jefferson Parkway Roundabout.
Body
Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council considers approval of a Resolution for Warranty Deeds and Temporary Construction Easement for TH 246 and Jefferson Parkway Roundabout.
Summary Report:
On January 21, 2020, Council approved the plans for the roundabout improvement project. The roundabout has been located slightly NW of the current center of the intersection to allow for construction without impacting the townhomes located in the SE corner of the intersection. For this, the City has been working with the School District related to the land necessary to facilitate construction.
The City has prepared warranty deeds for the land along with a temporary construction easement. The School Board approved the Warranty Deeds and Temporary Construction Easement on February 10, 2020. For the donation of the land for this project, the resolution for approval includes that City will construct crosswalk at the High School crossing TH 246. Once the warranty deeds are approved by the City and after construction, the State will, by Commissioner Order, take portions of the land for Trunk Highway Right-Of-Way.
Staff is recommending approval to continue to move the project forward. Without the warranty deed and temporary construction easement, the project cannot be built.
