Consider Approval of Election Judge Appointments, Pay and Absentee Ballot Boards for the 2020 Elections.

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council hereby:
1. Approves appointment of election judges as shown on the attached list for the 2020 Elections at an hourly rate of $13.00/hour for regular judges, $14.00/hour for technology coordinators and $15.00/hour for lead judges;
2. Designates Rice County as the Absentee Ballot Board for Rice County ballots, Dakota County as the Absentee Ballot Board for Dakota County ballots, and Northfield City Staff as the Absentee Ballot Board for Early Voting; and
3. Authorizes the City Clerk to appoint additional election judges as needed.
Summary Report:
The City Council is being asked to appoint election judges for the upcoming elections, authorize the City Clerk to appoint additional judges as needed, and designate Rice County, Dakota County, and Northfield City staff as absentee ballot boards. There are three elections in 2020:
1. March 3, 2020 - Presidential Nomination Primary
2. August 11, 2020 - Primary Election
3. November 3, 2020 - General Election
Staff will continue to recruit judges during the weeks leading up to the Presidential Nomination Primary election, as well as additional judges for the Primary and General Elections. City staff members have also been named as election judges in order to assist with various election activities.
Absentee voting is available at Northfield City Hall through Monday, March 2, 2020 for the Presidential Nomination Primary. In addition to all City of Northfield ballots, we have ballots for all precincts in Rice County. Rice County will continue to process all voted Rice County absentee ballots using their absentee ballot board.
