Human Rights Commission Meeting Date: June 13, 2019
To: Human Rights Commissioners
From: Ben Martig, City Administrator
Title
2020 Budget Discussion
Body
Action Requested:
The Northfield Human Rights Commission will discuss items to include in the City 2020 budget request.
Summary Report:
The City of Northfield’s annual 2-year budget process has officially began. The City Council will be having an audit presentation on Tuesday evening and having a preliminary discussion of the budget. Attached is a summary calendar of activities.
The Human Rights Commission does have a total of $3900 in funds allocated for the current 2019 budget. City Administrator Martig would be planning to submit a recommended total budget allocation of $3900 for 2020 and $4000 for 2021. City Administrator Martig will also be submitting an additional funding allocation request of $3400 for wireless audio headset systems that can be used for translation services in a separate communications fund. This would cover the full cost of this equipment that is intended to be available for City related uses as well as other non-profit organizations. Mr. Martig will also be having further discussions with Ms. Kallestad on any potential funding needs related to our City strategic priority of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion: A Community that welcomes everyone.
City Administrator Martig welcomes input on the budget requests related to the Human Rights Commission from the group at June’s meeting. There would be one more opportunity for some input at July’s meeting.
