Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council considers approving the attached Resolution approving the plans and specifications and authorizing the advertisement for bids for the Depot and Transit Hub Site Improvement Project.
Summary Report:
The City Council is being asked to pass a resolution approving the plans and specifications and authorizing the advertisement for bids for the Depot and Transit Hub Site Improvement Project.
The proposed project includes the construction of a site drive aisle and parking lot to serve both the future transit hub and Depot. Site infrastructure will be in place to allow for the construction of the transit hub building in the future.
The improvement will provide the necessary ADA access to the Depot building to allow for the final certificate of occupancy. Project will also include parking lot and pedestrian scale lighting.
When the Depot was relocated to the site, the Save the Depot Group completed contamination cleanup of the site. Staff has reviewed and consulted with a firm that specializes in contamination cleanup. We believe that the contamination cleanup should be complete; however, we are planning an additional contingency in the project should something be encountered on the site.
The plans for the project are attached (Attachment 3).
Staff is recommending the City Council approve the attached resolution and authorize the advertisement for bids for the Depot and Transit Hub Site Improvement Project.
Staff is concurrently working on reviewing legal agreements and processes related to the City receiving at a minimum easement rights as well as potential fee title owner...
