Consider Adopting the 2017 / Payable 2018 Tax Levy

Action Requested:                     

The Northfield City Council adopts the attached Resolution approving a final levy for the City of Northfield.

 

Summary Report:

Two final levy resolutions are attached, one with an 8.5% increase and one with an 8.0% increase.  Staff is recommending the General Fund portion of the levy be passed at $6,196,623, an 8.5% increase in total levy. 

 

The NCRC, Park Fund, City Facilities Fund, and Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Fund are all the same as 2017 levy amounts.

Alternative Options:

Two options are provided.

 

Council may pass a levy equal to or lower than the preliminary levy.  At numerous past meetings, staff has requested that any alternative amounts be provided in advance so as to provide for opportunity to discuss service impacts and potential adjustments. No other alternatives have been requested.

 

Financial Impacts:                     

Included in budget presentation and past meetings.

 

Tentative Timelines:                     

The final levy must be passed in December for remittance to the County.
