Title

Renew Master Partnership Contract with MnDOT

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council approves a Resolution entering into Master Partnership Contract with MnDOT.

Summary Report:

The master partnership contract with Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is up for renewal. This contact is on a five-year renewal cycle.  The contract allows for MnDOT and local governments to deliver services more efficiently.  The terms of the contract provide authority for the City Engineer to work with MnDOT to both request services from MnDOT or to provide services to MnDOT if so desired.

The contract is an umbrella agreement with work orders being completed for each individual work task.  The resolution authorizes the Mayor and Clerk to enter into the Master Partnership Contract, and the City Engineer is the Local Government’s authorized representative for service requests.

This agreement does not supersede state contracting laws or local purchasing policy.

Alternative Options:

In some cases, the services Northfield might ask of MnDOT could and would most likely be procured from consultants.  However, some of these directly align with the work MnDOT performs and can be delivered more efficiently.
