Title
Review of the 2025 - 2028 Planning Commission Work Plan.
Body
Action Requested:
The Planning Commission is asked to begin review of the 2025 - 2028 Planning Commission Work Plan.
Summary:
The Planning Commission (PC) updates their work plan alongside the City Council’s Strategic Plan. A draft is attached for review by the commission. The work plan is guided by both the Comprehensive Plan and the Strategic Plan and a large portion of the PC’s focus for 2025 and 2026 will be the update to Chapter 34: Land Development Code of the city’s code of ordinances, as the update of that document is critical to implementing the comprehensive plan and the strategic priorities of the Council identified in the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan. The final approved strategic plan is attached.
Staff will work with the PC to develop a final work plan that addresses stated outcomes in both the short-term strategic plan and the long-term vision of Northfield 2045. The work plan will be designed to be achievable given staff workloads, capacity, and financial and fiscal outlooks for the city.
Recommendation:
There is no staff recommended outcome for this item at this time.
Alternative Options:
There are no alternative options identified at this time.
Financial Options:
Limited staff time and budget requires the work plan to be specific, measurable, assignable, realistic, and time-bound.
Tentative Timeline:
Staff anticipates a final workplan to be developed by the end of the third quarter of this year (September 2025) in order to ensure that the redesign of the zoning code is completed as soon as possible.
