Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves reimbursement of costs for the transportation, registration, lodging and miscellaneous expenses for Mayor Graham, two youth delegates, and one youth chaperone to attend the National League of Cities Conference in November 2016, in the estimated amount of $6,500.
Summary Report:
The City Council is being asked to approve reimbursement of registration, lodging, and miscellaneous expenses while attending the National League of Cities City Summit in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, November 16-19, 2016. This conference is the largest gathering of local elected officials and staff in the country and is designed to offer exceptional educational and networking opportunities to increase the effectiveness of local leaders. City Council Motion M2012-022, adopted on February 6, 2012, requires that all City Council expenditures in excess of $500 in a calendar year are to be brought to the Council for approval. Mayor Graham's expenditures to-date are $45.
Financial Impacts:
The estimated conference expenses are $2,500 for Mayor Graham and $4,000 for the two youth delegates and youth chaperone. The City Council authorized two youth and one chaperone to attend the conference in 2015 for a cost not to exceed $6,000. The actual cost for their attendance was approximately $3,320.
