Title

Consider Resolution Restricting Parking on the Industrial Drive turnaround.

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council approves the attached Resolution establishing a parking prohibition on the Industrial Drive Cul-de-Sac.

Summary Report:

The City of Northfield has a contract approved for the 2025 Reclamation and Overlay Project which includes a pavement reclamation on Industrial Drive.  As part of the approved project, the City of Northfield has acquired a permanent easement from MOM Brands Company LLC to install a turnaround at the end of Industrial Drive, which currently is a dead end.  In order for the turnaround to function, it is being requested to sign the turnaround area as no parking to allow vehicles to negotiate the turnaround.

Alternative Options:

The City Council could choose not to approve the parking Resolution; however, the turnaround would fail to function as designed.

Financial Impacts:

The cost for the no parking area would be minimal and would be included in the cost of the proposed reclamation project.

Tentative Timelines:

If City Council establishes this parking prohibition, it would take effect when the reconstruction project is completed and no parking signs are installed, which is anticipated to be July 2025.
