Action Requested:                     

The Heritage Preservation Commission should review and approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for installing a new sign on the Northfield News Building - 313 Division St S.

 

Summary Report:

The applicant, Derek Kruse, applied for a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) to install a wall sign on the western façade of the historic Northfield News Building located at 313 Division St S. The historic inventory form and application materials are attached.

 

The application meets the required finding. Of the 6 additional findings to be considered, three (3) are met and three (3) are not applicable.

Staff Recommendation

Staff recommends approval of the Certificate of Appropriateness for the sign per the attached documentation. Attached is a resolution draft for the HPC to review. HPC members can contact staff in advance to make edits if there are any proposed changes.

 

Alternative Options:

The HPC could approve the COA with conditions or deny the COA. Both options would require modifying the resolution to provide additional justification and findings.
