Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council approves Resolution Accepting the Grant of Real Property in Northfield from the Northfield Hockey Association for the New Ice Arena.

Summary Report:

The City of Northfield, City of Dundas, Northfield School District, and Northfield Hockey Association have partnered in funding the construction of a New Ice Arena to serve our Community.  The framework of the partnership was approved by Northfield City Council on June 18, 2024.

As part of the partnership, one of the key items is the property in which the New Ice Arena is going to be located.  The Northfield Hockey Association received a donation of 7 acres of land from the Gleason Family for a New Ice Arena, and now that the funding partnership has laid out the framework, the land will be donated to the City of Northfield.

The donated land is part of the Gleason Third Addition Plat, Outlot C.  The location is shown below.

The New Ice Arena is scheduled to start construction in the spring of 2025 and opening is planned for late summer of 2026. If for some reason the Ice Arena didn’t move forward, the land would revert back to the Northfield Hockey Association.
