Title

Consider Amended Resolution Authorizing Participation in the Greater Minnesota Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Community Program

Body

Action Requested:

The City Council approves the amended Resolution authorizing the City of Northfield to participate in the Greater Minnesota Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Community Program.

Summary Report:

The Greater Minnesota Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Community Program, administered by MnDOT, provides funding and technical assistance to communities to evaluate and develop public EV charging infrastructure.

Northfield has been selected for Phase 1, which will evaluate potential charging sites at the Northfield Transit Hub, Northfield Community Resource Center, and a multifamily location. MnDOT’s consultant will assist with site feasibility, utility planning, and project development. Phase 1 is fully funded, and successful completion is required for consideration for Phase 2 construction, anticipated to begin in 2027 pending funding.

City Council approved participation in the program on August 25. Staff identified a correction that is needed for the resolution. Reapproval is requested to ensure the resolution accurately reflects the City’s participation in the program.  A redline of the updated resolution is attached.
