Summary Report:
1. The City of Northfield was awarded $750,000 by Minnesota Housing through the "Workforce Housing Program" competitive grant opportunity. The funding is dedicated to build market rate residential rental properties in communities with proven job growth and demand for workforce rental housing. Communities are required to match one dollar for every two dollars. The City applied through the Minnesota Housing-issued Request for Proposals (RFP) process in April, in partnership with the Community Action Center. The project proposal is for eight units of rental workforce housing at 1000 Division Street, a Bluewater property. Selection and funding recommendations were presented to the Minnesota Housing board for approval at the September 26th, 2024 meeting. An official notice of award will be provided at the HRA board meeting.

2. Comprehensive Plan Update. Please see the attached documents representing Q3 updates associated with the comprehensive planning process.

3. The National Alliance of Preservation Commissions (NAPC) Commission Assistance and Mentoring Program (CAMP) is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2024. The nationally-renowned training program runs from 9:00 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Additional details, including location and registration, will be provided as soon as they are available. Please reserve the date on your calendars and let city staff know if there is anyone you think should be invited to the event.

4. The Secretary of the Interior released Preservation Brief 16: The Use of Substitute Materials on Historic Building Exteriors in October 2023. This is the latest preservation brief to be issued and is included here for your review.
