The Northfield City Council approves the Motion for Contract Amendment #1 and Amendment #2 (Attachment #1) for the 2023 Reclamation and Overlay Project with SEH Inc

Summary Report:
At the October 4, 2022 City Council Meeting, City Council approved Motion 2022-124 Professional Service Agreement for the 2023 Reclamation and Overlay Project. This contract included Design Services and minimal Construction Services. Below is summary of each Amendment.

Amendment #1 - $55,709
During project design and approvals, there were numerous additions to the project that were not anticipated in the original project scope. These include pre and post bicycle and pedestrian counts, additional topographic survey, and additional design services identifying additional options for project approval. In addition to the additional design costs incurred, additional construction service cost related to the construction were also incurred relating to additional staking and testing services that were not anticipated in the original proposal. The work and costs for this amendment have already been expended.

Amendment #2 - $116,411
Due to the delay in project approvals and project award, the project, which was anticipated to begin in early May of 2022, was not awarded until June 6, 2022, and construction began in late June 2022. This delay caused the project to extend into the 2024 construction season. Due to staffing levels in the City of Northfield Engineering Department, the City of Northfield is unable to provide adequate construction coverage to multiple jobs of this size per year.
