Consider Approving Plans and Specifications and Order Advertisement for Bids for the Northfield Regional Transit Hub Project.
BODY
Action Requested:
The City Council considers approval of the attached Resolution approving the plans and specifications and authorizing the advertisement for bids for the Northfield Regional Transit Hub Project.
Summary Report:
The City has completed the preparation of the plans and specifications for the Transit Hub. Plans have been prepared in accordance with Council direction on the exterior at the May 2, 2023 Council Meeting, and option 4 from the August 8, 2023 Council Meeting related to accessibility and circulation.
Option 4 - Street access from Transit Hub with Elevator and stairs to access Pavilion
Bill Hickey, the Architect with CDG will share the site plan along with the building exterior and interior images. Staff have been working with the Save the Northfield Depot group on the final coordination of the plans. The new building will follow the City sustainability standards.
The final design plans are being prepared and will be distributed as a supplemental memo along with a Council presentation.
Alternative Options:
Staff is recommending going out for Bid.
Financial Impacts:
Updated financials will be included in the supplemental memo.
Tentative Timelines:
The bids will be received on March 17, 2022 with projected award on April 5, 2022. Construction would occur during the 2022 Construction Season (Attachment 3).
