Title

Consider motion accepting License for Utility to Cross Public Waters

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council is requested to consider a Motion accepting License for Utility to Cross Public Waters with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Summary Report:

City Council is being asked to accept license for utility to cross public waters (Attachment 1) with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The license agreement to cross public waters is part of the Water Treatment Plant construction. New watermains will be installed from the existing wells to the water treatment plant site on Hall Avenue. For the watermains to get to the water treatment plant site, they must cross Spring Creek which is a public water requiring an agreement with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to install the watermain. A construction document showing the location of the watermains going under Spring Creek is included as Attachment 2.

The license agreement will be for 50 years and at that time, the City along with the Department of Natural Resources may extend the license. The City is required to have the license in order to complete the work needed for extension of the watermains.
