The Planning Commission is asked to hear updates from staff.

 

Summary Report:

                     City Council Information

a)                     The upcoming agenda items list is attached for reference.

                     Comprehensive Plan Information

a)                     A written update is included as an attachment to this item.

b)                     Staff presented information on the draft vision and values to the Rotary in April.

                     Housing and Redevelopment Authority Information

a)                     The HRA held its regular meeting on May 2, 2024. The agenda is attached as a link to this item. Of note, the HRA board adopted a disposition policy, which describes framework for decision-making regarding the purchase and/or sale of real property.

                     Economic Development Authority Information

a)                     The next regular meeting of the EDA is canceled due to Memorial Day.

b)                     A joint work session of the EDA and the PC is set for May 29, 2024. More information will be forthcoming.

                     Preservation Information

a)                     The Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) is the recipient of a $9,000 grant to bring the National Association of Preservation Commissions “CAMP” training program to Northfield this summer. More information can be found on the NAPC website, and in the attached PDF documents.

b)                     The Minnesota Main Streets program under the umbrella of RETHOS (formerly Preservation Alliance of Minnesota) was awarded a National Parks Service grant, the “Paul Bruhn Looking Up” grant. Applications are now open. More information is attached and on the RETHOS website.
