The Northfield City Council approves a motion to approve the second reading of Ordinance 1089 Vacating a Drainage and Utility Easement within 1011 Poplar Street South.
Requires a supermajority (5/7) vote.

The public hearing was conducted on September 23rd with action approving the ordinance by 6-0 vote. This is the second reading with no changes.
Background
The owners of 1011 Poplar St. S. are selling the property and would like to split the parcel from one into two. There is a remnant drainage and utility easement that runs across the north portion of the lot. The city does not have need for the easement.
According to Northfield Municipal Code Section 15.6:
The council may by ordinance approved by at least five (5) members vacate any street, alley or other public grounds or part thereof within the city. Such vacation may be made only after published notice and an opportunity for affected property owners and public to be heard, and upon such further terms and by such procedures as the council by ordinance may prescribe. A notice of completion of such proceedings shall be filed with the proper county offices in accordance with law.
Staff recommends approval of the vacation.
