Consideration of Riverwalk Market Fair License Agreement for Temporary Use of 115 5th Street.

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council is asked to make a motion to approve the draft License Agreement for Temporary Use of 115 5th Street West to host indoor vendor markets throughout the winter.
Summary Report:
City staff discussed the possibility of identifying an interim use for the Northfield News building to enhance the downtown with an immediate focus on the holiday shopping season. The Northfield Riverwalk Market Fair was identified as a partner that could be quickly set up at the site to generate special destination traffic for local and regional entrepreneurs and unique products. The Riverwalk Market Fair successfully held these events last year at this location, and are looking to do so again for this year.
The Riverwalk Market Fair intends to host a series of indoor Winter Market dates, and its Winter Walk event, using the City-owned Northfield News building. The licensing fee will be paid in full upon the execution of the agreement. Markets will be held each Saturday from November 18th - December 23rd from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Northfield Riverwalk Market Fair has been a successful entrepreneurial event hosted in Bridge Square since 2000. The Northfield Economic Development Authority has been a critical funding partner since the beginning. Over the past few years, the Riverwalk Market Fair Board has been reviewing opportunities to grow the market beyond the summer period.
