Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves a temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor license for Church of St. Dominic for an event to be held at 104 Linden Street North on August 10 & 11, 2019, subject to successful completion of background checks.
Summary Report:
The City Council is being asked to consider approval of a temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor license to be issued to Church of St. Dominic for an event to be held at 104 Linden Street North on August 10-11, 2019.
The City may, with the approval of the Commissioner of Public Safety, issue a temporary on-sale license for the sale of intoxicating liquor in connection with a social event within the city sponsored by the licensee, to:
(i) a club or charitable, religious, or other nonprofit organization in existence for at least three years;
(ii) a political committee registered under Minn. Stat. ? 10A.14; or
(iii) a state university.
The Church of St. Dominic qualifies as a religious organization in existence for at least three years. The application has been checked for compliance with Minnesota State law and City Code and meets all requirements. The application must be approved by the City before being submitted to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Alcohol & Gambling Enforcement Division for final approval of the license. Staff recommends approval.
Alternative Options:
The City Council could deny the temporary permit, add additional conditions or delay action to a future meeting.
Financial Impacts:
The applicant has paid the $350 license fee for a temporary liquor license.
Tentative Timelines:
The application will be submitted to the State immediately following approval...
