Presentation of Percent for the Arts Annual Report (2025).

The Northfield City Council receives a presentation on the Percent for the Arts Program Annual Report.
Summary Report:
One of the most important goals of the Northfield Cultural Plan, adopted by the City in 2019, was the adoption of a Percent for the Arts Ordinance in order to provide sustainable funding for public art in Northfield and to ensure that art will have a place in public spaces throughout the city. On March 2nd, 2021 Northfield City Council approved this ordinance which requires all budgets for eligible city capital improvement projects include an amount equal to 1% of the projected construction costs that is to be used for public art.
The ordinance requires an annual report to be provided no later than March which shall include at least the following:
a. a description of the artwork completed, obtained or commenced in the previous year;
b. a description of the city Capital Improvement Projects designated for inclusion of public art by the city council in the upcoming year and of the funding source; and
c. a budget for the income and expenditures for such city Capital Improvement Projects.
This annual report (attachment 1) and presentation (attachment 2) compiles and presents projects that were initiated and/or completed in 2025.

Northfield Arts Guild Executive Director Michael Johnson will also be in attendance for the presentation.
